Peter Appleton - MSc, MA, MILAM, CMS

Peter has over 20 years management experience at the highest levels. Having successfully led a number of cross cutting reviews and improvement projects for both the public and private sector; and as former Head of Culture at the London Borough of Newham (host Borough to the 2012 Olympics) he also has strong track record of achievement in the Leisure and Cultural Services sector. He has also successfully managed and developed the lead role in devolved Local Neighbourhood Management in an extremely diverse area over a period of many years.

Peter has the ability to combine innovation with strategic and practical thinking that have successfully delivered tangible outcomes. His strong analytical skills and forte for managing change alongside his strong people management skills provide a solid foundation for service improvement and successful project delivery. He has a track record of delivering successful projects - from vision to delivery.

Peter has considerable experience of corporate and service management at the highest level and has both transferable management and specialist skills. As an accredited Peer Assessor with the IDeA, he has the ability to work in a very diverse range of organisations and contexts, including advisory and review roles. Peter is thorough and methodical and has an excellent track record of developing effective relationships with key stakeholders at every level.

Paula Claytonsmith

Paula has over 17 years experience managing and leading a range of services and projects in the public and private sectors. As a former Assistant Director of Improvement at the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) she also has a strong track record working with local authorities to improve services with innovative ideas, practical solutions and best practice. Paula was also Project Director with the Audit Commission on its "Performance Management, Measurement and Indicators" initiative as well as contributor to a number of publications and a regular speaker at national conferences.

Paula has the skill and ability to combine innovation with strategic and practical thinking. This has helped her consistantly deliver long lasting results. Her strong people management skills and talent for managing complex ideas into practical delivery was featured in The Municipal Journal's "Top 40 under 40" in 2005 for the start-up of the IDeA's "Planning Advisory Service".

Paula has had a varied career which combines experience of corporate and service management in local authorities, national improvement organisation, KPMG, and has worked with a number of start-up companies, SME's and recently with an international Media Company.

Paula also acts as a Business Ambassador for the Essex Education Business Partnership, a role that encourages business and school partnerships.
